Busy Few Weeks in First Class

First Class have had a busy few weeks!

We finished play in first class with the theme ‘The News Room’. The children were very sad to say goodbye to the blocks but hopefully Senior Infants are enjoying them!

The Sam Maguire Cup made an unexpected visit to the classroom one day! This was a great surprise!

During Book Week the children loved the puppet show and really enjoyed reading in our new Classroom Library. Unfortunately book week was cut short but they are looking forward to meeting an author this week and dressing up as their favourite characters on Friday!

For International Women’s Day an engineer came in to speak to the children about her job. She spoke about different 2D and 3D shapes they might see in the environment. The children then got to build structures using toothpicks and jellies. They had great fun!

The class also finished the Junior Achievement programme with Deirdre-Ann. They learnt lots about families, communities and businesses. It was great to have Deirdre-Ann in with us over the past 5 weeks and the children were delighted with their certificates and pens!

When we returned after the snow it was ‘Seactain na Gaeilge’. The children loved learning new songs and tried their best to speak as much Irish as possible! We had a disco in Room 9 and a parade and Céilí with the whole school. It was great fun!
